Daniel S. Chatfield, RS,
MSEH is the Director of Environmental Health at the Clark County Combined
Health District. He is
responsible for managing the operations of the Environmental Health
Division and supervising division employees. He is constantly amazed at
the depth and breadth of knowledge among the Clark County Combined Health
District staff.
Mr. Chatfield has over
thirty-nine years of public health experience at the local and state level
in
Ohio
. He managed the Ohio Department of Health program that created the Ohio
Poison Control Network which is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year
by calling 1-800-222-1222. Dan
crafted the proposal for the childhood lead poisoning prevention bill that
became Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3742. He managed over $9.0 million in
federal grant programs while with the Ohio Department of Health.
He has a Masters of Environmental Health degree from
East
Tennessee
State
University
and is a Registered Sanitarian in the State of
Ohio
. Dan was selected Sanitarian
of the Year by the Ohio Environmental Health Association in 1997.
He served on the Board of Directors of that statewide organization
as Secretary and as Treasurer.
His philosophy of public service is reflected in his favorite quote by
Edmund Burke, the British statesman and philosopher (1729-1797), “Those
who carry on great public schemes must be proof against the most fatiguing
delays, the most mortifying disappointments, the most shocking insults,
and what is worst of all, the presumptuous judgments of the ignorant.”
Dan is active in his church and presently serves as Secretary of the
Trustee Ministry team at
Columbia Heights
United
Methodist
Church
in
Columbus
. He participated in the
planning and design of their new 33,000 square foot Church and
Family
Life
Center
which will opened in the fall of 2007.
He is married to his wife
Candy of 42 years and they have three grown daughters: Heather, Amy and
Meghan. They have four
granddaughters: Morgan and Emma Rywalski and Isabelle and Payton Sayre.
Dan enjoys playing with his four grandchildren, his Golden Retrievers
Rusty and Grace, gardening, snow skiing, photography and wine making. |
